Ashton 1sts 14-24 Wigan 1sts

Second placed Wigan had won their last three games by an average of 80-5, and had Ashton not gone down 12-0 down in the first few minutes a real upset would have been on the cards. A penalty try and an Alex Mayoh try , the second in two week were the scorers.
Clitheroe 2s 47-12 Ashton 2s
Wayne Hadfield scored two tries and Colt Isaac Kellett, making his debut, converted the kick.
Sunday was derby day for all five junior teams.
Ashton Colts 17-13 Glossop Colts
Krystian Wieteskas’ try broke the deadlock on 20 minutes, and while Glossop pressured to get back into the game, the home defence held firm for a 5-0 lead at half-time. The visitors kicked a penalty to reduce the arrears to 5-3. Ashton’s discipline improved and they began to surge downfield, Bobby Hannon saw a gap in a ruck and crashed over for a try to make it 10-3. Glossop came back strongly and when the winger dived over in the corner it was very close at 10-8. Ashton’s youngsters play with a refreshing attacking style, but when a chip launched downfield for the home winger to chase lead to him being impeded off the ball, the refreree had no alternative but to give a penalty try and yellow card the offender. Despite their 17-8 lead, Ashton didn’t look comfortable and so it proved as Glossop got their second try with three minutes to go to make it 17-13. The Colts attacked to the end and saw the game out in the visitors half. This win takes them three points clear of Kendal, who they face away next Sunday.
