Hyde United 3-0 Grantham Town

The Tigers comfortably picked up three points against a struggling Grantham side to continue their impressive home form.

After a lively opening to the game, Hyde opened the scoring in the third minute when Dom Smalley, who has joined the club on-loan from Chester, was fouled by Luto in the box. The referee was left with no choice but to award the spot kick, and Tom Pratt converted with confidence.

Hyde had a number of good chances to make it two through Pratt and Luke Porritt, but both were denied by the impressive Wright in goal. Academy prospect Dapo Olarewaju replaced Porritt on 23 minutes and Hyde claimed their second through Pratt shortly after. The striker notched his second of the afternoon from just inside the box.  The remaining 15 minutes were all Hyde with Grantham offering very little to test Peter Crook.

The second half found Hyde still in control, looking to keep possession and control of the game. But the majority of the second half was scrappy with neither side rushing to get in front of goal. Both teams made a few changes to get the game flowing again, however, it was wasn’t to be in the final third, especially for the visitors. Hyde finished the game off in the 88th minute with Chib Chilaka finding himself with his back to goal and turning sharply before firing into the bottom corner.

Hyde never really looked under threat from this point and held out for a deserved three points.
