Bamber Bridge 3-0 Stalybridge Celtic

Celtic fell to a perhaps slightly unfair scoreline on Saturday afternoon. With injuries in defence Celtic gave a debut to Elliott Cooke the grandson of Celtic legend Don Cooke. The youngster gave a good account of himself in his first senior game. The first half was a tight affair with little goal mouth action. Waddecar and McKnight with half chances for the home side whilst Wilkinson had a sighter from twenty five yards for Celtic.
Eight minutes into the second half and the deadlock was broken. Marlow turned smartly in the box and fired past the outstretched arm of Turner. Celtic did what they could to get back into the game but looked it it wouldn’t be their day. Ross Dent hit a rasping effort that stung the palms of Rigby. Liam Tongue doing similar. As Celtic started to press further Bamber sealed the game as Waddecar got on the end of a long punt up field. The pacy forward made no mistake has hit hammered his effort home. Into injury time the hosts put gloss on the scoreline as substitute Dawson got on the end of a cross and tapped home. A frustrating afternoon for Celtic, but with a busy festive period on the horizon Simon Haworth will want his men to find the form that saw them on the edge of the play offs only a few weeks ago.
