Police make arrest in connection with Denton assault, victim still in hospital

Police investigating an assault at a Denton pub have made an arrest.

Officers were called to the Jolly Hatters pub on Town Lane, just after 9.20pm on Saturday November 24th, to reports that a man had been punched.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 33-year-old man turned himself into the police and was arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. Police say he has been assisting officers and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Jo Lockett of GMP’s Tameside Division said: “We’d like to thank members of the public for assisting us with this investigation.

“We are pleased that the victim appears to be making good progress in his recovery.”
