Don your brightest red hat and snowy beard and get ready to run at the tenth Santa Dash in Marple on Sunday the 2nd of December.

Organised by Romiley and Marple Lions, the annual event sees hundreds of people dress up as jolly old Father Christmas and get jogging in aid of Kidneys for Life.

The route is two miles long, starting at Marple Memorial Park at 12-noon with dashers making their way to Marple Garden Centre (Wyevale) on Dooley Lane, having already warmed up with some moves taught by Zumba Marple.

There’s no pressure to run, however, with the specially prepared route going mostly downhill and on footpaths.

Marshals will also be on-hand to guide straying Santas back to the trail, so everyone wearing their suits can reach the finish line and enjoy live Christmas Carols played by Marple Band, complementary refreshments and a ride on the Dragon Miniature Railway at the Garden Centre.

In addition, any Junior Dashers under 11 years of age wearing their Santa Suits will receive an early Christmas present as a thank you from the Lions.

It costs £10 to register (which also includes the price of your Santa Suit) with a suggested minimum sponsorship amount of £30, which you can raise using a provided sponsor form.

The Scout Hut will be open from 11am on the day for dashers to check in and collect their Santa suits.

Organisers said: “This is our tenth Santa Dash and we hope that it will repeat the success of the nine previous events, whilst again increasing awareness of and support for the campaign.

“Help achieve the goal and fund kidney research to save lives!”
