Police have launched an appeal to find a teenager from Ashton who has been missing for two months.

17-year-old Abdi Ahmed was last seen on Cedar Street, at around 5.40pm on Thursday June 21st.

Abdi left home without any belongings. He’s described as 5ft 9in tall, of slim build with long black hair. He was last seen wearing black jeans, a black hoody, a black baseball cap and trainers. He’s also known to wear a red or blue bandana.

Detective Inspector Julie Maxwell, of GMP’s Tameside borough, said: “Abdi has been missing for two months today and while he has gone missing before, he has always returned home safely and we are now growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

“We are worried that Abdi left home without any of his belongings and we have been working hard to find him but there have been no further sightings since he went missing.

“We believe he may be in the Rochdale, Oldham or Tameside areas but can’t rule out the possibility that he may have travelled to London and we would ask people in those areas in particular to look out for Abdi.

“Please take a good look at the picture of Abdi and do what you can to help us bring him home safely.”

Anyone with information about Abdi’s whereabouts is asked to contact police on 0161 856 9262 or 101, quoting MP/13/0074931. Reports can also be made anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
