Ashton United manager Jody Banim has assembled his squad ahead of the new season in the National League North.

Having announced a string of retained players earlier this week, the club has now revealed no less than seven new recruits for the upcoming campaign in step six.

Defender Curtis Jones has joined the club, having previously played for Southport in the National League North.

He is joined at the back by Oliver Crowley, who’s previous clubs include Stalybridge Celtic and FC United.

Midfielder Scott Sephton arrives the club with a wealth of experience, having most recently played for Trafford last season in the Evo-Stik First Division North.

One of the most notable recruits is striker, Craig Hobson, who has previous experience with Stalybridge Celtic, Lincoln City and Stockport County. Hobson has also played for Chester, but arrives at Hurst Cross having most recently played for Aberystwyth Town.

Daren Thornton, a central defender, joins from Nantwich Town. He too has previous experience with Hyde United and Curzon Ashton.

Matt Regan, who can be utilised in defence or midfield, joins the club from Curzon Ashton. He joined the Nash last summer after spending time with Stalybridge Celtic.

The club’s latest arrival is Zack Dale, who scored 34 goals and received 18 Man of the Match awards at Barnoldswick Town last season.

Ashton are competing in their first pre-season fixture this evening at home to Oldham Athletic.
