Tameside’s over 50s are invite to join in one of this summer’s liveliest and loveliest events- Greater Manchester’s first ever Festival of Ageing.

Designed to celebrate ageing across the region, the festival will see a host of activities for over 50s and their families and friends to enjoy, from July 2nd-15th.

Alongside a fringe of community events, Tameside will be joining in the fun on Tuesday July 10th, with a celebration at Ashton Market. From 12-4pm, there will be a jam-packed afternoon of free stalls, activities, music, dancing, games and more!

The Festival of Ageing is funded by Ambition for Ageing, a £10.2 million National Lottery funded programme set up by the Big Lottery Fund and led by GMCVO. The programme is aimed at creating more age friendly places across Greater Manchester and empowering people to live fulfilling lives as they age.

There will be over 300 other fringe events throughout the fortnight for older people and their families to get involved in. Amongst the myriad of activities across Tameside are afternoon teas, craft groups, social lunches, walks, talks and much, much more.

Commenting on the Festival, John Hannen, Ambition for Ageing Programme Manager, said: “Ambition for Ageing is absolutely delighted to be hosting Greater Manchester’s first ever Festival of Ageing. It is our hope and intention that the fortnight’s events will bring people together to try something new, meet other people, make friends and have a good time.

“For some it will be a chance to try something out that they can turn into a new hobby. For others, it is simply the chance to mix with like-minded people, talk, bond, and create some great memories.”
