Oldham Athletic will begin their Carabao Cup campaign with a home clash against Championship outfit Derby County, in what will mark Frankie Bunn and Frank Lampard’s first cup game in charge of their sides.

Lampard is no stranger to the competition, having won it twice as a player during his time at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea.

Having signed a three-year contract at the end of May, the 40-year-old will be hoping to guide the Rams to promotion during their 11th consecutive season in the Championship.

Oldham were knocked out of the competition at the first stage last season by Burton Albion, who claimed a 3-2 victory at Boundary Park. The result was part of a seven game winless run under then manager John Sheridan, who was dismissed in late September following a 5-1 defeat at Rotherham United.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will enter the competition as defending champions, having beat Arsenal 3-0 in the final in February.
