Ashton United defender Josh Granite has left the club to join National League outfit, Barrow.

The 26-year-old has penned a one-year contract, having captained the Robins to promotion last season via the Evo-Stik Premier playoffs.

Barrow, who avoided relegation to the National League North by one point last season, are currently without a manager following Ady Pennock’s departure.

Granite has been joined at Barrow by new signings Astley Mulholland and Jack Hindle. Both players have made a two-level step up, having played for Colwyn Bay in the Evo-Stik First Division North last season.

Mullholland, who scored 18 goals last season, has previously played for Glossop North End and FC United.
