The Civic Mayor of Tameside, Cllr Joyce Bowerman, has thanked the local community for helping to raise thousands of pounds for charity over the course her mayoral year.

A variety of events, such as the Valentine’s Ball, Golf Day and Mayor at Home, as well as donations from local businesses, community groups and individuals, have all contributed to the final total of £11,769.18.

The Mayor’s four chosen charities received their share of the money at Dukinfield Town Hall earlier today (May 16th). The total will be evenly split between Tameside 4 Good, Marie Curie, The Mesothelioma UK Charitable Trust and The Anthony Seddon Fund.

Cllr Joyce Bowerman, whose mayoral year ends on May 21st, said: “We’ve been very lucky and received some very generous donations from throughout our community. I’d like to thank everyone who got involved throughout the year; your donations will be going to some great charities which provide vital services and are close to my heart.”
