Cheshire Cup semi-final

Vauxhall Motors 3-0 Dukinfield Town

Duki bowed out of the Cheshire cup at the semi-final stage on Wednesday night.

The tie was scheduled for Runcorn Linnets’ ground but an afternoon pitch inspection cancelled the tie.

However both sides agreed to stage the tie at Vauxhall’s ground.

Town got off to the worst possible start when an underhit backpass from kick off led to the home side taking the lead. This was the only goal of the half. The game turned dramatically on 50 minutes when after a mass melee Town had two players dismissed and the home side none.

The home side soon doubled their lead when their striker found himself five yards clear from any defender without a flag being raised and stroked home a second. A late third goal sealed the tie.

Town returned to league action Saturday and were held by Bolton County 2-2 despite leading twice through Danny Parkinson and Mitch Andrew. The reserves went down 2-1 at Walshaw, Owens netting.
