Stalybridge Celtic 1-4 Farsley Celtic

Celtic succumbed to play off chasing Farsley on Saturday afternoon. Injury to influence centre back Ross Killock meant a re shuffle at the back for Steve Burr. Something Farsley punished Celtic for as Nathan Cartman helped himself to a hat trick.

A fairly even opening half an hour changed when on two goals in the space of five minutes had Farlsey at a canter. Luke Parkin showed a quick pairĀ  of heels to race at the Celtic defence and put in a cross for an unmarked Cartman to tap home. Then only minutes later a Walker through ball found Cartman again who stroked home.

Any hopes of a Celtic revival were dashed three minutes into the second half when Nathan Turner finished neatly following a one on one with Sykes-Kenworthy in the Celtic goal. A heavy injury list, and packed fixture schedule seemed to be taking its toll on Celtic as they looked leggy throughout. Farsley happily closed the game down but did have time to feed Cartman to claim his hat trick on 80 minutes. A ball over the top was met by Parkin who rather than shoot decided to tee up Cartman who rolled the ball home for his third of the day.

Celtic introduced a number of academy players from the bench and it was one of these young prospects who picked up a consolation goal for Celtic in the dying moments. A lofted freew kick found an unmarked Roberts on the edge of the box. He crossed for Brice Pouamoun to finish and claim his first goal for Celtic.

With a hectic run of fixtures and more postponements to encounter this gruelling end to the season for Celtic really will have Steve Burr and his men at full stretch.
