Droylsden 0-3 Brighouse Town

A hat trick from Aaron Martin condemned the Bloods to defeat on the final day of a disappointing second half of the season.

In a poor first half, Martin converted the only shot on goal that either side could manage two minutes before the break after Droylsden lost the ball in midfield.

The Bloods came out in the second half with more determination, Levi Phillips forcing a good save from Clarke soon after the resumption and should have equalised when centre half John Shaw’s point blank strike was cleared off the line by the keeper with a follow up header clipping the bar.

Liam Caddick then saw his strike come back off the inside of the post soon after.

But Brighouse grew stronger as the second half continued, Aaron Martin causing problems as he got behind the home team’s defence and the centre forward made it two with just over a quarter of an hour remaining striking the ball past Barber.

Substitute Iwan Heeley forced a good save from Barber in the dying minutes before Martin wrapped it up in added time to claim his hat trick.
