Three taken to hospital after Stamford Street smash

Three people were taken to hospital following a crash involving a car and a minibus in Ashton on Saturday (10 March) night.

It happened at around 11:20pm in the evening on Stamford Street East, close to the San Rocco restaurant.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene to rescue those trapped inside the cars.

5 casualties in total were taken from the vehicles and three were taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service.

One fire engine, one major rescue unit and one technical rescue united from the Ashton depot attended the scene, while a further engine from Stalybridge assisted.

In total crews attended the scene for around an hour.

A spokesperson for GMFRS said: “We were called to a road traffic collision as 11:21pm on Saturday 10 March.

“On arrival the crew found the collision to be involving a car and a minibus in the roadway.

“Firefighters released 5 casualties from both vehicles and 3 were taken to hospital by NWAS. We were there for about an hour.”
