Man suffers life-changing injuries after being stabbed in the chest in Ashton

A man has suffered life-changing injuries after being stabbed in the chest in Ashton yesterday.

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was found on Market Avenue at around 7am on Monday morning (March 12th). The North West Ambulance Service confirmed he was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary and had suffered a major trauma.

An area close to Bar 15 on George Street was taped off as police investigated the incident. It’s not yet clear exactly where the stabbing took place.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester police said: “At around 7am on Monday March 12th, police were called to reports of an assault on Market Avenue in Ashton-under-Lyne.

“Officers attended and found a man in his thirties with a stab wound who was taken to hospital for treatment of his serious injuries.

“Enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing.”
