Liverpool Uni 1sts 39-10 Ashton 1sts

Veteran Paul Emery got the visitors’ try while Captain Josh Patison added the conversion and a penalty.

Marple 3rds 30-25 Ashton 2nds

Josh Meredith had a senior debut to remember after scoring his first points in the opening five minutes with a well taken penalty. Two Marple tries and a penalty of their own, followed by Ashton tries from Ryan Houghton and Jack Schofield levelled it 13-13 at HT.

The game provided an opportunity for fathers and sons to play together. Pictured are Jack and Paul Schofield, Allen and James Bower.

Marple rotated their bench in the second half and their new stand off cut a good line to retake the lead despite a dubious grounding. They added another shortly after. Ashton came back with tries from Anthony Spafford and Wayne Hadfield to again level the game at 25-25 with four minutes left. However, Ashton hearts were broken when Marple scored a last minute try to win it.
