Police launch appeal for dashcam footage

A teenager is in hospital in a critical condition after suffering serious injuries following a collision between a car and motorcycle last night (Saturday).

The collision happened at 8.05pm on Ladbrooke Road near the junction with Union Road in Ashton.

Police say a silver Ford KA travelling along Ladbrooke Road began to turn right onto Union Road when it was involved in a collision with an orange-coloured off-road Honda motorcycle that had come from the Curzon Road direction.

The impact of the collision resulted in the rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old man, being thrown from the bike and along the carriageway, where he then hit the rear of a parked black Nissan Qashqai car.

He was taken to hospital having suffered a number of serious injuries and where he remains in a critical condition.

Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made, but police are now appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact them.

Police Sergeant Brian Orr of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As we continue with our enquiries, our thoughts are with the man and his family as he remains in hospital.

“It wasn’t particularly busy in the area but there may have been people that saw what happened and haven’t yet got in touch with us.

“We are specifically interested in reviewing dashcam footage of the collision and the events leading up to it so if your vehicle is fitted with it or you have other information that will help us, please call us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting reference number 1970 of 17/02/18.
