Four houses were evacuated in Stalybridge on Friday after a wall and three floors inside a disused mill collapsed.

The incident happened at Oakwood Mill on Grenville Street with the police and fire service called to the scene.

Nobody was hurt in the incident but four properties nearby were evacuated as a precaution until the area could be made safe.

Police said they were working with Tameside Council to secure the area.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue sent two fire engines and a technical response unit to the scene on Friday afternoon.

They also deployed their air unit drone to fly over the scene to assess the situation.

The main picture is a bird’s eye view of the mill taken by the drone.
