Oldham Athletic have confirmed the loan signing of midfielder Ben Pringle from Preston North End until the end of the season.

Pringle joined the club ahead of Tuesday’s postponed Checktrade trophy tie against Leicester City.

Upon joining Latics, Pringle admitted manager Richie Wellens was a big reason behind his loan move to the club. Speaking to Oldham’s official website, he said: “I know the gaffer quite well from playing against him. I had a brief chat with him and I liked what he had to say and I need to play football so it seemed the right fit to come here.

“I’ve not played in quite a while now and that’s what I need to do. I need to get some games and match the heights I reached at Rotherham [where he was named in the League One Team of the Year].

“As a player he gave his all and he gave 100% so I’m expecting the same from him as a manager,” Said Pringle of Wellens.

“I’ve trained a few times now and he likes to get the ball down and make his teams play so hopefully we can do that.”

Oldham return to League One action with a home clash against Rotherham United on Saturday.
