The funeral of a motorcyclist from Haughton Green takes places in Dukinfield today, January 5th.

30-year-old Michael Pilkington died when his Suzuki motorbike collided with a Peugeot 208 in Gorton on December 5th, and more than £4,700 has been raised on a Just Giving page to help pay the costs of his funeral.

Michael’s family, including his two children, will say their final farewell at Dukinfield Cemetery today and local motorcycle clubs are to ride alongside the funeral cortege.

Between 12.50 and 2pm, traffic on the following roads may be slow moving as a result:

  • Wordsworth Road, Denton
  • Mancunian Road,
  • Lancaster Road,
  • Two Trees Lane,
  • Stockport Road,
  • Seymour Street,
  • Corporation Street.

Speaking after his death in December, Michael’s family paid tribute to him, saying: “Michael was a loving father to his beautiful son and daughter, partner to Jade, son to his parents John and Lindsay and brother to Natasha and Scott.

“We are struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss of our beloved Michael and ask to be allowed to grieve as a family at this time.”
