Police are investigating after the death of a man who was found collapsed with serious injuries on a busy road in Mottram on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to Roe Cross Road at around 6am on Saturday (December 30) following reports of a seriously injured man in the road.

He was pronounced dead and his death is not being treated as suspicious but a full investigation has been launched to determine the full circumstances.

Although the man has not been named, it is understood he is in his 40s.

The road was closed for several hours on Saturday morning between Matley Lane and Stalybridge Road as forensic investigators attended the scene.

Reports on social media suggested the man was found lying on a grass verge at the side of the road, but this hasn’t been confirmed by the police.
