Heyside 4-1 Walshaw Sports

Heyside Football Club manager, Matthew Wheelton, has praised the commitment of his players to secure a valuable three points against Walshaw Sports on Saturday.

The 4-1 victory, courtesy of goal from Adam Dale (x2), Matt Williams and Jordan Hindley, means Heyside are now five games unbeaten in league competition, leaving them in fourth position on 30 points having played 16 games this season.

Having taken a 1-0 lead into the half-time break, Heyside soon found themselves 3-0 up after the re-start.

Wheelton’s side could have made it 4-0 shortly after, although a hawk eyed linesman ruled a goal out for offside.

Walshaw took advantage of the decision and darted forward to make it 3-1, however the hosts added another through Hindley to wrap up the three points.

Like all teams in the division, Heyside are without a league fixture this weekend but do return to action on Saturday 30th December against last year’s champions, Rochdale Sacred Heart.

In other news, Heyside have been drawn at home to Wythenshawe Amateurs in the Gilgryst Cup quarter-final. A date for the tie has yet to be confirmed.
