Gwynne MP gives local post office stamp of approval

Denton and Reddish MP Andrew Gwynne was on hand to provide some festive cheers as he visited his local post office today.

The Shadow Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government visited Denton Post office this morning to see how preparations were going for the busiest time of year for the postal service.

Gwynne MP was shown first-hand the wide range of services that the post office provides as the team made their final preparations for the Christmas period.

Denton Post Office, one of 11,600 branches across the network, offer many services to take the stress out of the festive period. Everything from Travel Money to online shopping collections is available in branch as well as Royal Mail’s special Christmas stamps.

Customers can also get easy access to their cash for that all important last minute Christmas shopping as the branch offers everyday banking services for business and personal customers of all UK banks including cash withdrawals, deposits and balance enquiries.

Andrew Gwynne MP said: “It was fantastic to meet the team at Denton Post Office, they provide such a valuable service to the local community.

“I am so impressed by their dedication and hard work and wish them every success during this busy period.”

The team at the Denton office were delighted to receive a visit from their local MP. Postmaster Mikesh Parekh said: “Christmas is one of our busiest times of the year. We were delighted that Andrew Gwynne MP took time out from his busy schedule to support us and recognise the valuable service we provide to our local community.

“Since 2012 the Post Office has been undertaking the biggest modernisation programme in retail history.  As a result customers are now benefitting from an extra million opening hours over the festive season. 

“With over 4000 branches open seven days a week and thousands more from early in the morning until later in the evening.”
