Audenshaw 1st XV defeated Lancashire rivals, Rossall by 40 points to nil at Hazel Street under the floodlights earlier this week. The in form home team registered their eighth victory of the campaign with a scintillating first half display, from which the visitors never recovered. A score of 33-0 at the break came from some superb offensive rugby with Dan Johnson and Wade McKie amongst the scorers. The hero if the day was outside centre and former Warrington Wolves trialist, Luke Nero who completed a hat trick early in the second half and was at times simply unstoppable.

U16 ace, Jordan Reader was outstanding on the left edge and the characteristic toughness on both sides of the ball from back row duo, Lewis Davidson and Dale Chadderton simply gave Rossall no chance in the tight.

Skipper James Sharples and fellow packmen, Ryan Williams, Jimmy Whitmore, Louie O’ Reilly and Jenson Peters totally outplayed the opposing eight men and Luke Wagstaff returned with another excellent 80 minute display.

U16 rising stars, Josh Birch and Tyler Winstanley both enjoyed another strong outing and Dan Martin was usual dynamic self involving himself in every aspect of the game.

The blockbusting power of Jack Lowndes and the electric pace and agility of Sufyan Amjad will be long remembered by those from Rossall whom they encountered and Niall Metcalfe deputised well after his introduction.

All in all Audenshaw can be very pleased indeed as they head into their penultimate fixture of 2017 on Saturday at home to Ripley St Thomas.
