EFL LEAGUE ONE

Oldham Athletic 0-0 AFC Wimbledon

Oldham extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to three games with a goalless stalemate with AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday.

Latics entered the clash in confident mood having beaten local rivals Rochdale 3-1 just three days earlier.

However, despite creating a number of chances and applying the pressure throughout the fixture, Oldham were unable to break the deadlock.

Craig Davies, who has suffered a goal drought of late, looked to have put Latics ahead in the first-half. However, after seizing on an opportunity in front of goal and prodding home from close range, the striker was ruled offside in what turned out to be a frustrating evening for Richie Wellens’ outfit.

Latics started the game brightly and almost took the lead within 90 seconds. Eoin Doyle received a pass from Gevaro Nepomuceno, but the on-loan Preston striker saw his effort fly wide of the woodwork.

20 minutes later and Latics did have the ball in the net through Davies, but the striker was ruled offside by a hawk eyed linesman.

Numerous chances soon followed for Oldham, but Cameron Dummigan, who scored against Rochdale on Saturday, and Jack Byrne found their accuracy lacking.

Oldham had a glorious chance to take the lead on the stroke of half-time, but Doyle’s header from close range flew inches wide of the far post.

The second-half began in much the same fashion as the first-half ended. Oldham were relentless in their pursuit to find a goal but couldn’t break the deadlock.

The visitors’ defence stood firm and returned to London with a well-deserved point.
