There will be plenty going on to get you in the festive spirit at Stalybridge town centre’s Christmas lights switch-on this year.

The annual event is taking place in Armentieres Square on Saturday, November 18.

The entertainment will begin at 1:30pm before the main show and celebrations take place between 5pm and 6pm, with former Coronation Street actor Scott Wright the special guest.

There will be free canal boat rides, fairground rides, a brass band, a visit from Santa, mulled wine, chestnuts and much more.

Cllr Leanne Feeley, who has helped to organise the event, said: “We are working closely with Cancer Warriors and all money raised will be donated to this very worthy charity.

“Our celebrity Scott Wright is the patron of the charity and will be switching on the lights with Father Christmas at 6pm in Armentieres Square.

“This will be a family friendly event in the heart of the town and we are looking forward to lighting up Stalybridge with music, dancing and lots of fun.”

It’s organised by Stalybridge Town Team, with the support of the Stalybridge Town Team, Tameside Canal Boat Trust and local traders.

Anyone who wants more information about the event can contact Cllr Feeley on 07815 886763.
