A man from Dukinfield has been given a 26-week jail term, suspended for 12 months, for assaulting a woman.

Kevin Plimmer, of Champagnole Court, admitted a charge of touching a woman over the age of 16 sexually when she did not consent.

He pleaded guilty to the offence, which had happened in the town on April 20 this year, at Tameside Magistrates Court.

Magistrates ordered the 48-year-old to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work, plus pay £650 in court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

He must register with police in accordance with the Sexual Offences Act for the next five years.
