FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round

Stamford 1-2 Droylsden

Two first half goals in the space of three minutes secured Droylsden’s place in the next round of the FA Trophy after they had fallen behind to an early goal at Stamford.

A header from a corner from John Shaw and a strike from the edge of the area cancelled out a fourth minute goal from Bradley Fortune after a long ball from the back had caught out the Droylsden defence.

Minutes later the Bloods were level, as John Shaw headed home from a Luke Daly corner and Daly’s strike minutes later silenced the home crowd.

Both teams had chances in the first half as the home team pressed for an equaliser, Henry Eze having a free header from a corner which sailed over the bar for the home team while the Bloods defence was caught out on the break only for Jake Duffy to drag his shot wide of Ritchie Branagan’s post.

The Daniels continued to press in the second half and a Jordan Smith header was well saved by Branagan but Droylsden had a great chance to make it three after a great move which ended with Steve Hall shooting over the bar from close range.

The home team continued to press for the equaliser, substitute Sam Hollis allowed to run to the edge of the area only to shoot wide and with the Bloods defending well Joe Challinor forced a save from Branigan.
