Police have launched an investigation after shots were fired at a parked car while a family sat inside.

Officers were called to the scene of the incident on Dorlan Avenue in Gorton at 7.30pm on Saturday.

They discovered that three shots had been fired at a white Range Rover Sport car which was parked on a drive outside a house while a family were sitting inside it.

A witness went outside to investigate the bangs and saw two men acting suspiciously.

They are described as wearing dark clothing and a dark hoodie. One was around 6ft tall, the other slightly shorter.

Both made off after the third loud bang.

DS Tim Greenwood from GMP’s CID team said: “Luckily no one was injured in this incident, but when guns are used, particularly on suburban streets, there are always terrifying consequences.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area and saw anyone acting suspiciously to get in touch.

“Guns, and those who use them, are not welcome on the streets of Greater Manchester.”
