Sports fans across Tameside who are living with dementia are being invited to come together to discuss their shared passion, following the launch of a new group.

Sporting Memories have teamed up with The Shed in Dukinfield to establish a weekly group aimed at older fans of all sports to share their experiences.

It starts on Wednesday (October 25) and is taking place from 1:30pm to 3pm at Loxley House on Birch Lane, where refreshments will also be available.

The group is an opportunity for older sports fans to meet up and have a laugh while listening to or debating current sporting topics.

Jason White, Sporting Memories’ Area Project Co-ordinator for Greater Manchester, said: “These groups are not specifically aimed at people living with dementia but are open to all older sports fans who would like to meet up with like-minded people to have a bit of banter and talk about sports.”

The group is free to attend but a donation towards the refreshments would be appreciated but not mandatory.
