New group in Dukinfield for older sports fans living with dementia

Sports fans across Tameside who are living with dementia are being invited to come together to discuss their shared passion, following the launch of a new group. 

Sporting Memories have teamed up with The Shed in Dukinfield to establish a weekly group aimed at older fans of all sports to share their experiences.

It starts on Wednesday (October 25) and is taking place from 1:30pm to 3pm at Loxley House on Birch Lane, where refreshments will also be available.

The group is an opportunity for older sports fans to meet up and have a laugh while listening to or debating current sporting topics.

Jason White, Sporting Memories’ Area Project Co-ordinator for Greater Manchester, said: “These groups are not specifically aimed at people living with dementia but are open to all older sports fans who would like to meet up with like-minded people to have a bit of banter and talk about sports.”

The group is free to attend but a donation towards the refreshments would be appreciated but not mandatory.
