Thrill seekers are being given the opportunity to hot foot it to a fire walk next Thursday, October 26.

The dramatic event is being held by Tameside 4 Good to raise money for local organisations and individuals as the charity celebrates its fifth birthday.

The event will take place in Fletcher Square, Ashton, with the fire walk starting at 6.30pm. Spectators are welcome and are encouraged to support the brave locals taking up the challenge.

The fire walk is being organised and carried out by UK Fire Walk, the UK’s leading fire walk company and they will give all the participants full training before they take part.

Anyone who is interested in taking part will be given the chance to face their fears by walking 15ft across the hot coals.

The coals will reach a temperature of 1200 degrees Fahrenheit or 648 degrees Celsius. Former firewalkers have said: “They feel the heat through their soles” whilst others say it’s “freezing cold”.

Fire Walk UK have never had to provide medical attention to anyone who has taken part in their public, corporate or charity fire walks. However, anyone who is interested in taking part is reminded that there will always be a risk with fire walking.

Participants must be 16 and over and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A registration fee of £25 will secure your place. Tameside 4 Good are also asking participants to pledge to raise £25 or more in sponsorship money.

To register for the fire walk or for further information you can contact [email protected] or you can ring 0161 339 2345.
