Four arrested for Stalybridge burglary following helicopter chase.

Police called in the force helicopter to assist with the capture of four people suspected of burglary at a house in Stalybridge.

Four people, three males and a female were arrested yesterday morning following a burglary at a residential property at Brushes Road, Stalybridge.

The alledged offenders believed to be from the Longsight area of Manchester were discovered at around 10. 30 am on Tuesday morning (October 10) and attempted to flee the scene on foot.

Police pursuing the group mobilised the force helicopter and after a dramatic chase the four were all rounded up and arrested.

A car belonging to the group a Peugot 307 was seized by polce.

The four aged between 30 and 21 were taken in custody to Ashton Police Station to be questioned by detectives and have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police have warned house-holders to be vigilant on the run up to Halloween and Bonfire Night.

A senior officer at Ashton Police Station said: “Burglars use the cover of fireworks exploding to hide the noise of breaking glass and wood and there is always a spike in burglary offences at this time of the year, which is why we will mounting extra patrols.”
