Two teams from Dukinfield Youth Football Club have been dazzling on and off the pitch this season.

And it’s all thanks to Howarth Timber & Building Supplies, Ashton, who have provided both teams with a brand new kit.

Both sides compete in the Tameside Junior Football League on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Shaun Francis, who has been associated with the club for seven years and coaches the Sunday team and helps out with the Saturday team, told Reporter Sport: “The lads have outgrown all the kit, because they seem to have growth spurts at this age, so we were desperate to secure new kits, and the guys at Howarth Timber have kindly said they’d provide them.

“I can’t thank them enough for their generosity.”

Shaun is hoping the new kits will inspire both squads to success this season.

In fact, the 49-year-old is hoping that both sides can recreate the same winning mentality as last season, which saw the Sunday team win every fixture in their respective division.

Reflecting on the achievement, Shaun said: “The Sunday team went through the whole of last season winning every game in the East Manchester Junior Football League, so we decided to move them up a year to give them a greater standard of competition.”

Such were the quality of performances last season, the squad were invited to play Stoke, Huddersfield, Rochdale and Oldham’s academy.

Shaun, a Manchester United supporter, takes pride in the way both sides have developed over the years. He said: “A lot of the players have been here since soccer school.

“It’s been really good to coach them and it’s also a great experience to watch kids develop, both as individual players and as a team.”
