Active Tameside launches Swim Academy
Monday 30th October 2017 @ 12:57 by Mark Phillip

Tameside Swim Academy is an exciting new swimming programme being launched by Active Tameside on 6th November. The press launch event will take place from 6pm on Wednesday 15th November, at Active Medlock. The Academy will replace Active Tameside’s current pre-club lessons and it will be the next step up for swimmers who have completed the Learn to Swim framework.

Tameside Swim Academy will be a great opportunity for swimmers to experience the environment of a competitive training scheme. As part of the Academy, which will be run on an invitation basis, swimmers will have access to 5 x 45-minute sessions per week at various Active pools throughout Tameside.

In order to meet swimmers’ training requirements, members of Tameside Swim Academy will also be entitled to free general swim sessions at all Active Tameside pools.

Academy swimmers will be advised to start slowly then increase their training, once they have developed their strength and stamina. Each month, representatives from various swimming clubs will be invited to go along to the Academy sessions to identify talent.

Active Tameside runs five swimming pools, all of which deliver the Learn to Swim programme. This takes children from their first splash, to being completely competent in the water. The programme is supported by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) and is delivered by fully qualified, experienced swimming teachers. Tameside Swim Academy will be the next step up for swimmers who have completed the Learn to Swim programme.
