16-year-old girl taken to hospital after fireworks set off in Ashton Town Centre

A teenage girl was taken to hospital after youths caused chaos, setting off fireworks in Ashton town centre on Sunday.

A shop window was smashed and people were sent running for cover after the group of teenagers set them off just after 7pm.

A spokesperson for GMP said: “We were called at around 7:10pm on 15 October to a shop on Warrington Street to reports of damage by a firework.

“A group of young people were found to be setting off fireworks and one person was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.”

North West Ambulance Service confirmed that they’d taken a person to Tameside Hospital in connection with the incident.

Greater Manchester Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident.
