Ashton started the season with three home games and with new players joining the second team as well as three of last year’s Colts playing first team and five playing in the seconds, position for places is hotting up.

Tries for Gareth Edwards (2), Kane Fitton (2), Martin Kenny (2) and one each from Riddick Mayanu and Dom Maher, in a team with eight players making debuts.

Sunday saw Ashton Senior Colts in league action beating Heaton Moor 29-0, with tries from Tom Ashley (2), Jake Horsfall, Joe Kay and Alex Galbraith. Travis Powell converted two, one from the touchline via the upright.

It has been an encouraging start to the season, and Saturday sees the first travel to North Manchester and the seconds go to Oldham thirds.
