Hyde United 1-1 Ossett Town

Hyde extended their unbeaten run to 21 games with a hard fought 1-1 draw with Ossett Town at Ewen Fields on Saturday.

The Tigers had to come from behind in the game after Alex Peterson gave the visitors the lead in the eight minute.

A corner delivered into the six-yard box was fumbled by goalkeeper Peter Crook, leaving Peterson with an easy tap in from two yards out.

However Hyde responded well and drew matters level in the 35th minute through Matt Beadle.

The striker executed a sublime chip over the keeper from outside the box after the Town defender failed to clear his lines.

Hyde had the chance to take the lead just after 50 minutes, but Tom Pratt’s deflected shot off Karl Jones drew a fine save from the visiting keeper.

Ossett had a glorious chance to claim the three points later in the game, though when one-on-one with the keeper, Ryan Ferguson struck over the bar from 15 yards out.

A fair result overall which leaves Darren Kelly’s side seventh in the table, ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup third qualifying round tie at Boston Town.
