Fire crews were called to tackle a building fire in Droylsden on Wednesday evening.

Three fire engines from Ashton-under-Lyne, Stalybridge and Philips Park were called to reports of a fire at a building on Ashton Road at around 7:18pm.

The fire was thought to have been started deliberately, with a quantity of rubbish well alight in the derelict building when firefighters arrived.

To extinguish the fire, they used one hose reel and a ventilation fan.

Firefighters remained at the incident for 40 minutes.
