Five injured as bus and car collide

Specialist fire -crews from Ashton, seen here in training to rescue a  motorist, were called upon to release a trapped casualty  from a vehicle yesterday, for the second time in three days.

Fire crews from Ashton’s Major Response Unit and Technical Response Unit were called upon to to rescue a casualty from a car which was involved in a collision with a bus on Ashton New Road, yesterday.

The casualty was taken to hospital along with another victim following the accident which happened at around 1.00pm yesterday afternoon,(September 5).

Three other casualties, described as walking wounded were treated by paramedics at the scene.

In total four units attended the scene including one fire engine from Ashton and one from Phillips Park and the Technical Response Unit and the Major Response Unit from Ashton.

Crews  attended the incident for one hour and 25 minutes.
