Ashton referee Chris Kavanagh can look forward to taking charge of another Premier League game this weekend.

The 30-year-old, who was born in Manchester but hails from Tameside, will oversee his third top-flight game when overseeing Burnley against Huddersfield Town at Turf Moor on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).

He was also at the helm for Southampton’s 1-0 win at West Brom back in April and Brighton’s 3-1 victory over West Brom earlier this month, brandishing just six yellow cards over the two matches.

Kavanagh was promoted to the Select Group of Premier League referees during the summer after impressing during three years in the Football League.

The highly-rated official will be assisted in Lancashire this weekend by Peter Kirkup and Sian Massey-Ellis, with Graham Scott the fourth official.

Kavanagh was the fourth official for Huddersfield’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at the John Smith’s Stadium last month.

He has also fulfilled the role twice at Wembley Stadium in high-profile games – in the 2015 FA Vase Final in Glossop North End’s 2-1 defeat by North Shields and last season’s League One Play-Off Final between Scunthorpe United and Millwall.
