Kirwin bowls Lawrence’s to victory

Glossop’s form went from bad to worse with defeat in a rain affected game against Denton St Lawrence.

Having elected to bowl first, Glossop had restricted DSL to 69/7 at one stage with Mark Usher (3/28) and Will Hargreaves (2/18) featuring.

As always seems to be the case, though, Ben Tighe (31*) added runs late on as the visitors pushed their score past 100 in the 26-over game.

Glossop’s reply started in the worst possible way, losing both Dale Pennington and George Dyson in the opening over.

The hosts never recovered from that position, only managing a sorry 54 all out.

It was the sixth time this season that Glossop failed to make three figures, with Scott Kirwin starring for DSL, taking 7/21.

Next week sees the North Road side travel to Roe Green with only 4 weeks of the season left.
