Ashton United have confirmed the signing of Scunthorpe United forward Jack Dyche on a six month loan deal.

Dyche returns to the club having spent two memorable loan periods with the Robins last season.

The 19-year-old soon became a fans favourite at Hurst Cross but was forced back to Glanford Park due to a leg injury.

Upon returning to Scunthorpe, Dyche featured as an unused substitute during the Irons’ 3-1 defeat to Millwall in April.

Dyche, who also spent a brief period on-loan at Bradford Park Avenue last season, is set to replace the injured Ryan Crowther and Matthew Chadwick, who sustained injuries in the pre-season friendlies against Radcliffe Borough and Colne respectively.

Of the signing, manager Jody Banim said: “We’re delighted to have secured the services of Jack Dyche for an initial six-month loan period.

“Jack did extremely well on loan last year, and we’re extremely lucky to have done a deal to get him back.

“It was vital we brought someone in after the extent of Ryan’s injury was established and we feel that although Jack and Ryan are different types of forwards, Jack will give us real energy and genuine goal threat in the final 3rd.”

Ashton conclude their pre-season schedule with a trip to Hyde United’s Ewen Fields tomorrow (Saturday).

They open their Evo-Stik Premier Division account with a trip to Hednesford Town on Saturday, August 12.
