Injured man rescued following fall from reservoir dam wall

Dovestones Reservoir where a man who had sustained neck and head injuries falling from the dam wall was rescued by GMFRS crews last night

Rescue teams from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service went into action just after 7pm yesterday evening (Wednesday 12/7/17  at Dovestones Reservoir to rescue a young man who had reportedly fallen off a dam overflow wall.

On arrival at the scene, crews from Oldham in two fire engines and a Technical Response Unit and Major Rescue Unit from Ashton discovered that the casualty had sustained head and neck injuries as a result of the fall.

The injured man’s  condition required the Technical Response Unit to use a tool kit and trauma bag to bring him to safety.

Members of the Technical Response Unit then applied first aid to the victim who was then rushed to hospital by ambulance.

Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour and ten minutes.
