The Albion, Dukinfield, won the Manchester Log-End Federation Champions’ Cup for a second year running when they overcame the Strawberry Gardens, Droylsden, 4-2 in the all-Tameside final in Moston on Sunday.

The Ashton League champions made their way to the final with convincing group victories over their counterparts from the Salford Regent League, the South Manchester League, the Eccles League and the Irlam & Cadishead League before picking up the £200 main prize by beating their Droylsden League neighbours.

Darren Hebb, Martin Lomas, Tony Cooper and Derek Brewster entered the winner’s enclosure for the Albion with Mike Shaw and Gary Bentley replying for Strawberry Gardens, who had reached the final by beating representatives from the Denton League, Dukinfield League, Urmston League and Failsworth Premier League.
