Mossley began their pre-season campaign with a 1-1 draw against Curzon Ashton at Seel Park on Tuesday evening.

Of the Lilywhites 19 man squad, nine were trialists, while Liam Ellis, Elliot Harrison and captain Tom Dean – who all signed deals with the club in June – started the fixture.

As for the Curzon squad, it looks as if goalkeeper Cameron Mason will be first choice next season, following the departure of Hakan Burton in June.

Mason started last night’s fixture, along with the returning James Bailley and Matt Crothers, as well as new signings Steve Howson, Matt Regan, and Max Leonard.

Justin Pickering also featured in the starting XI.

As for the game itself, Curzon took the lead from the penalty spot in the second half through a trialist, before Mossley equalised shortly after through Liam Ellis.

The striker capitalised on a mistake from Mason and lobbed the keeper from outside the box.

Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison’s outfit absorbed late pressure to hold out for a 1-1 draw against their National League North neighbours.
