Police make an arrest following gunshots at Openshaw disturbance

Bob Massey Close, Openshaw where shots were heard during a disturbance on Saturday night.

Police have arrested a man following a disturbance in which it is believed a firearm was discharged.

A police investigation followed the incident that took place at Bob Massey Close, Openshaw at around 7.05pm, Saturday 3 June 2017.

Police received a number of reports and complaints that a fight was taking place at the address and that gun shots had been heard.

On Sunday 4 June 2017, detectives investigating the incident arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of a firearms offence.

He now remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Inspector Claire McGuire of GMP’s City of Manchester Team said: “We are just over 24 hours past this incident taking place and our investigation is moving at a significant pace, with numerous enquiries being carried out.

We currently have a man in custody however our investigation continues and I want to continue to appeal to anyone with information to please come forward.
