Murder investigation launched after man found dead in Hyde

Police have launched a murder investigation after a man has been found dead in the Newton area of Hyde.

The body of a 40-year-old man was discovered at a property on Harbour Farm Road just after 6pm yesterday (Wednesday) after police were alerted to a death by the ambulance service.

After anĀ investigation was immediately launched, a 32-year-old man remains in custody for questioning after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

A Home Office post-mortem is due to take place today (Thursday) and the man’s next of kin have been informed.

Detective Inspector James Faulkner said: “We are doing everything we can to understand how this man came to his death and provide his family with the answers they deserve.

“A team of detectives have been working through the night and we currently believe the victim suffered a serious assault resulting in a number of injuries.

“This investigation is still at a very early stage and residents can expect a larger police presence on Harbour Farm Road as officers carry out door-to-door enquiries and our forensic team continue with their work at the scene.
