Harbour Farm Road,Hyde police said they will continue to carry out enquiries in the area

A man remains in custody in connection with a murder inquiry into the death of a 40 year-old man at his flat in Hyde at around six pm yesterday. (28/6/17)

The murder investigation was launched after police were alerted by the ambulance service following the discovery of the man’s body at the flat on Harbour Farm Road in Newton, Hyde.

The 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and is still being questioned.(29/6/17)

The flat has been the scene of intense police activity all day as forensic teams carry out tests.

Police have also been carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and expect to continue doing so for at least the next 24 hours, according to a police spokesperson.

 

The victim’s next of kin have been informed and officers are awaiting the results of a Home Office post-mortem believed to have taken place today, to establish the exact cause of death.

Detective Inspector James Faulkner said: “We are doing everything we can to understand how this man came to his death and provide his family with the answers they deserve.

A team of detectives have been working through the night and we currently believe the victim suffered a serious assault resulting in a number of injuries.

This investigation is still at a very early stage and residents can expect a larger police presence on Harbour Farm Road as officers carry out door-to-door enquiries and our forensic team continue with their work at the scene.
