Police  executed a firearms warrant  at an address in Hyde on Monday,19/06/17

A  58-year-old man is facing charges following a raid by police officers executing a firearms warrant on a  house in Hyde.
Christopher Cook, of Newton Hall Road, Hyde, has been charged with four counts of possession of a firearm, one count of possessing equipment to convert imitation firearms and two counts of possession of ammunition.

Officers from GMP’s Tameside Borough executed the warrant at an address on Newton Hall Road, Hyde, on Monday 19 June 2017.

Mr Cook has been remanded to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Saturday 24 June 2017.

Following the raid a cordon was imposed around the area and bomb disposal experts were called to the scene, but they were not required to carry out a controlled explosion.

Greater Manchester Police stressed the raid was not related to any terror investigation.
